TOMMY ZITO
"THE PIANO MAN"
Entertainer and Piano Man Tommy Zito has loved music throughout his entire life. He has experiences
shared by only a handful of entertainers and excitement only dreamed of by others.
Tommy Zito began singing at the age of four, and recorded his first record at the age of eight, billed as "Little
Tommy", His children's recording " I Played a Trick On Santa Claus" was written and produced by Tony
DeSolo and Les Bear on the Wan-Dell label, and his first major appearance was in Hazleton, Pennsylvania
as the opening act for the Platters.
Later, Tommy had the distinction of being a member of three groups, Uproar, Magnum, and Aviator,
furthering his career and gaining valuable experience.
His first group, Uproar was one of the Lehigh Valley's top bands of the 60's and 70's, whose single "Love is
Gonna Keep Us Together" earned them a spot in Billboard Magazine. From 1980-87 he became the
keyboardist/singer/songwriter for the group Magnum, which toured the country and, for two years running,
was the top band for the Miller Rock Network. In 1987 Tommy accepted the position as background
vocalist/keyboardist for the RCA recording group Aviator, which was managed by Hall & Oates manager
Tommy Motolla and Mike Appel, the first producer and manager of Bruce Springsteen. Tommy's opening
credits read as a who's who of the music industry. He has shared the stage with artists such as the Platters,
Drifters, Coasters, Shirelles, Capris, Allman Brothers, Three Dog Night, The Turtles, The Rascals,
Chubby Checker, Hall & Oates, Survivor, Todd Rundgren, Bruce Springsteen, and others.
Tommy's critical acclaim however, is due to his solo career. His experience and repertoire, his comic
personality and impersonations, and his musical mind, which allows him to recall song requests by
memory, enable him to suit any type of entertainment need as a one-man entertainer.
Some of Tommy's specialties include ethnic favorites, Broadway show tunes, classical piano and timeless
classics of the past sixty years. Other audience favorites include works by Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beatles,
The Righteous Brothers, The Platters, Drifters, Michael Bolton, Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Bryan Adams,
Journey, Styx, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Lonestar, and other artists. Tommy always has a second
microphone on hand for the many other entertainers and musicians who attend his performances, many of
whom inspired his solo CD, release in 1995, entitled "Inspirations".
His talent, love of music, and unselfish quality, endears him to others. It has also gained him more
recognition over the past fifteen years than ever before, and has earned him the title of "entertainer's entertainer." Besides a full schedule of local venues, Tommy's travels on the eastern coast take him from
Boston, Massachusetts to Bal Harbor, Florida, often as the entertainment for major corporations such as
AT&T, Kiwi Co., Sara Lee, Knoll, Macco, and IBM. For ten years he was also the summer entertainer for
Resorts Atlantic City Casino Hotel.
